If you are planning to visit the Myrtle Beach area the Sky Wheel would be worth the time.I've considered it several times and finally decided to take a ride. The view is wonderful and the ride is very smooth inside the air conditioned compartments. During my next trip I plan to take a night ride above the beach.
I am fortunate to have opportunities to do some traveling and participate in various events. I setup this blog to share some of my adventures. Most of the time when I am traveling I have several bags of gear for shooting and editing. Other times, I have only an iPhone. Most of my photography sessions include weddings, portraits and sporting events. I look forward to being able to take time to "play" and capture some scenic and architectural pics of the areas I visit.

The Really Big Expo
I look forward to attending the annual Southeast
Petro-Food Marketing Exposition in Myrtle Beach each year. It's an opportunity to get a glance at new technology, spend sometime with some of our business partners and possibly meet some new friends. The show also offers trade seminars, a variety of food samples and an occasional celebrity sighting.
Back in the day we took a day to visit the show in Charlotte and run through the show floor glancing at vendors. The show and missions have changed to include a golf tournament fundraiser, many meetings and a chance to take in a couple of beautiful Myrtle Beach sunrises.
About the show:
The nation’s largest regional petroleum and c-store show continues the spring date started in 2001. Approximately 1500 buyers attended last year from throughout the southeast. Each year more than 400 exhibit companies offer equipment, products and services to petroleum marketers and convenience store owners and managers. Of course, the latest in products and services will be on display.

My return to the game of golf.
Several years ago I played the game of golf as much as I could, but not frequent enough to become a great player. I continued because I enjoyed the game and love being outdoors. Other commitments pulled me away from the courses and I lost what little I had. I may have played 2 or 3 times during the past 5 years and still had a good time even though my game was terrible. I had given my clubs away a long time ago and the few times I've played since were on borrowed clubs. I was recently volunteered to play during a fundraiser tournament at Myrtlewood Golf Club in Myrtle Beach SC. I was honestly glad to have the chance to get back into the game. This was a fundraiser and I didnt feel any pressure to be great. I borrowed a set of clubs from a co-worker (The guy who volunteered me to play) and spent a few evenings prior to the trip practicing. During the night before the tournament I practiced in my backyard with plastic golf balls and felt pretty good about things.
Upon arriving to the golf course we had a good BBQ meal and then set out with three other guys to take a swing at the game. I learned that one other player has been playing for a very short amount of time and I wasnt worried about being the only person take an occasional miss at the ball. I had some good hits but still not as consistent as I'd like to be. By then end of the day, I felt that I had played a decent game considering that I had not played in a long time. We had a great time and the course was beautiful. We had wonderful weather and I didn't sacrifice too many golf balls to the many water hazards throughout the course. Somehow a cart died on the final hole and we had to push it back to the clubhouse. This was a huge laugh to top off the day. The night before was the 1:00 am Daytona 500 Nascar race and we decided that bump drafting the cart around the course was appropriate. I was happy that our team finished with a score of 79.
I am determined to keep the game of golf scheduled and add a new set of clubs to my list of toys this year. Until then, my friend is letting me keep his old clubs so I can get some frequent practice.

We took a day trip to a place below Murrells Inlet S.C. called Atalaya castle. Atalaya Castle, also known as Atalaya, was the winter home of industrialist and philanthropist Archer M. Huntington and his wife, the sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington, located near the Atlantic coast in Murrells Inlet, Georgetown County, South Carolina.
There were several other photo sessions taking place while we were roaming around the home. Since we were beside the beach we moved to the sand for a few additional shots. The weather was nice and warm for a November day and we captured some nice shots for the couple.
The mission for the day was to shoot engagement photos, grab some Krispy Kreme doughnuts and have a meal at Carrabbas. Mission accomplished!

Ocean Isle Beach - Oysterfest Weekend
I am always happy to add beach weddings to my schedule. I enjoy all outdoor weddings, but I am very fond of the beach locations. When possible I take advantage of the opportunity to spend some time on the beach and enjoy a restaurant or two.
Sharkys is a must visit restaurant when I visit Ocean Isle. I've been to Sharkys before or after every wedding that i have photographed at Ocean Isle. In addition to Sharkys, I have another new favorite place just across the bridge called The Causeway Gourmet. Following the wedding we arrive at The Causeway gourmet just before closing. The staff was very accommodating and prepared some delicious sandwiches for us.
This particular weekend was also the weekend of the NC Oyster Festival. I was a bit concerned about making trip between several destinations during the day because of the expected crowd. I am happy to say the the traffic control was on top of things and the crowd never became an issue for us during the day.
We had a wonderful day of food and wedding photography and were happy to retire for a good nights sleep. Beside discovering an new restaurant I was very pleased with the accommodations provided at the Winds Resort Beach club. This will definitely be the place I crash after future wedding gigs at Ocean Isle Beach.
The following day was just as beautiful as the previous and we spent some time on the beach as well as visiting the festival grounds to see tons of crafts and sample some food.

20th Anniversary at Walt Disney World
We are fans of Walt Disney World in Florida. We attempt to go as often as possible. We went for our honeymoon, every 5th year anniversary and various times between. This year is our 20th and we had another great trip to the theme park.
Our all time favorite resort to stay is Beach Club. Within walking distance of Epcot, the Beach Club resort is a great location for us. There is plenty to do around the Boardwalk including restarants, gift shops and live entertainment.
We have been during various times of the year and whether its hot or raining we manage to overcome the elements. Many of the attractions are indoors to provide a chance to coo down or dry off depending on the weather situation. When we visit during spring or summer, we are prepared for at least one or two evening showers. The weather doesnt slow us down.
I've learned how to pack and carry one camera body with a wide and zoom lens to allow me to shoot anything and everything. I have a sling pack that is just small enough to keep with me during the rides and shows. I enjoy all of the color and movement around the parks.
During this trip we began planning for our June 2012 Family vacation. Below is a small sample of the images that I shot during our visit. Click HERE to view the complete gallery containing nearly 1000 photos.
